Dance Your Heart Out

There are few things in life that bring me as much joy as dancing. Whether it's a choreographed piece, freestylin' at the clubs, or improvising during class, music moves me. Period.

I am not a dedicated dancer - nor have I ever been. There are times when I just don't feel like going to class or putting in a few hours at rehearsal. That's why I could never dance professionally like I once yearned to do. But, I recognize that and accept that fact about myself.

The opportunity to dance each week and perform multiple times each year with the dance company I'm part of (Without Walls Dance Co.) has been such an uplifting experience. The young women in the company are some of the most beautiful, kind, generous, and wonderful people I've ever met! I'm so lucky to have all of them in my life.

While I was pregnant with Ethan, I wasn't dancing during most of the pregnancy for certain health reasons/concerns. I still attended rehearsals, but my heart was aching to be out there on the dance floor with my girls...

Now, since giving birth to him in May, I've already been a part of two shows and we have another performance coming up in just a few weeks! We're starting to apply to various dance events and venues... and our NYC show was so much fun! Getting back into the swing has been a little challenging, but my body is finally thanking me for the effort.

Music speaks to my soul in many ways. It is one pleasure I fill my life with whenever possible. I am overjoyed that Ethan likes music (and dance) so much, too... it is definitely something we'll be able to connect with each other as he gets older. Plus, I always have a captive audience at home when I'm working on choreography or just goofing around in the kitchen.

Dance fills my heart. What fills yours? What is your passion and why?
