It Really DOES Get Better!
So, this whole parenting thing really does get better!
Ethan just turned 4 months old, and the last month has already been 100% more fun and fruitful than the first three! He's hitting all of the milestones like a champ, and growing like a weed (albeit a pretty one).
The best thing in the world is seeing his face light up in the morning when I get him out of bed. To know that he recognizes me (and Mike) and is happy to see us is absolutely the most rewarding feeling. He's come to trust us and knows that we will be here for him - rain or shine. That is something you can't put a price on.
I feel lucky that Ethan is content to play on his own, chatting all the while. I am so proud that he's rolling over and almost crawling already! He is so adorable when he tries to hold the bottle all by himself (which he can almost do.... just have to move those hands under the bottle instead of on top and he'll get it). Ethan sleeps very soundly once he falls asleep, which allows me to get so much done around the house during his naps. Every movement and sound seems to capture his attention... nosey and alert, and we think that is a very good thing!
We started 'sharing' Ethan with friends and family at a very young age, which has helped us tremendously when we have to find a brand new sitter - someone he's never been watched by before. He is so happy to meet new people it seems, and his smiles bring joy to so many. We are so lucky to have family and friends who are willing to watch him for us when we have an event (or just want some 'us time'). I'm curious if it will remain this easy once he reaches the age where he's supposed to start getting upset when we leave him?
I'm now a stay-at-home mom, working part-time from home in a new position at work. So far, it is working out well, and the balance is proving to be healthy for me. I never would have made this decision if being a parent had remained as difficult as it was those first few months... I'm so thankful that my heart is filled with joy every day, knowing how much my love for my son continues to grow.
